Intro to Raw Fleece

Learn how to select a quality fleece- skirt it, wash it, and consider different methods for preparing it to fit your purpose.  Each person will receive 2 pounds of raw wool from our flock of Cotswold and Border Leicester at Gwenyn Hill Farm.

Choose between a 10-pound bag of 20-pound box of mixed heirloom apples from Quednow’s Heirloom Apple Orchard in Elkhorn. Bag or box will contain a mix of heirloom apples including varieties that are great for both fresh eating and baking.

Spin Your Wool

Learn the basics of spinning on a wheel through one individual or small-group session. Then, join the full group workshop for the chance to try different spinning wheels, hone your spinning techniques, and troubleshoot with help from experiences spinners. 

Wool Preparation

Learn how to card, comb, and flick your fleece to prepare roving and top for spinning. We will discuss each method and how they produce different types of yarn. Participants will have the opportunity to use a variety of tools ranging from hand cards and combs to drum carders and blending boards used to combine fibers and produce unique color combinations.  

Winter Egg Share

One dozen Certified Organic, soy-free eggs every week from January 19 through April 26, 2024. All winter egg shares must be picked up at our Farmstand.
