By Linda Halley with Birke Baehr | Nearly a decade ago I ran across a TED talk that brightened my day like no other. Like most TED talks it was informative and well presented. What was unique was that the speaker was only 11 years old and he was talking about the food system. He was so passionate and his message was right on! He had the kind of fire that could spark positive action. He was a homespun version of Greta Thunberg except speaking for food and farming on maybe a bit smaller stage.
By now Birke must be a young adult. I hope he has followed his dream of becoming an organic farmer, we need more of them. We also need more educated, passionate eaters out there. The unsustainable production agriculture that predominates all over the world will only change if the people who eat food choose food produced differently. I believe the Millenials will lead the charge.

Brighten your dreary winter day by watching a young man on fire!
