Benjamin and Ezequiel Zuniga
Harvest and Post-Harvest Managers
The Zuniga brothers, Benjamin and Ezequiel, have been working in organic produce production for over two decades. As twenty-somethings at Harmony Valley Farm in western Wisconsin, they applied themselves to learning all they could about this new kind of farming, a contrast to the subtropical agriculture they had known, growing up in their home state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Learning both English and organic farming from the ground up, Benjamin now leads and trains the Gwenyn Hill harvest team, and Ezequiel oversees the post-harvest operations in the packing shed. Their focus on quality can be seen in the beautiful fruits and vegetables we sell.
Coming and going from Mexico to the midwest on seasonal visas for so many years, Wisconsin has become their second home. By necessity they have become good cooks, frequently stirring up typical stovetop cuisine common to rural Mexico, and finished off with chile, lime and salt. But they love a Friday night fish fry, too. The two brothers always make it home for the holidays and spend the rest of winter with their families, helping out on the family farm.
