Intro to Raw Fleece

Learn how to select a quality fleece- skirt it, wash it, and consider different methods for preparing it to fit your purpose.  Each person will receive 2 pounds of raw wool from our flock of Cotswold and Border Leicester at Gwenyn Hill Farm.

Knit or Crochet Your Yarn (2 sessions)

Participants will divide up into groups to begin a knitting or crochet project of their choice based on skill level and personal preference. Guest instructors will lead the various projects in small groups over the course of 2 sessions.

Have you wanted to try juicing but are not sure how to get started? Here is your opportunity for hands-on experience with a variety of juicing methods, including choosing recipes and prepping the produce!

 

Kara Morris of Kara Konnects will lead participants through all of the steps to make delicious and nutritious juices at home.

Participants will get to sample the various juices made with Gwenyn Hill vegetables during the class.

Choose between a 10-pound bag of 20-pound box of mixed heirloom apples from Quednow’s Heirloom Apple Orchard in Elkhorn. Bag or box will contain a mix of heirloom apples including varieties that are great for both fresh eating and baking.

The event will feature live music, family-friendly activities, conversations with conservationists, wagon rides, and delicious food made with Gwenyn Hill Farm produce. Spin Your Wool

$75.00

Learn the basics of spinning on a wheel through one individual or small-group session. Then, join the full group workshop for the chance to try different spinning wheels, hone your spinning techniques, and troubleshoot with help from experiences spinners. 

Weave Your Wool

$95.00

Learn the basics of weaving on a 4-shaft floor loom and rigid heddle loom. We will discuss the advantages and drawbacks of each type of loom and give participants the opportunity to practice tapestry weaving on their own personal frame loom that can be used again and again!

Wool Preparation

$55.00

Learn how to card, comb, and flick your fleece to prepare roving and top for spinning. We will discuss each method and how they produce different types of yarn. Participants will have the opportunity to use a variety of tools ranging from hand cards and combs to drum carders and blending boards used to combine fibers and produce unique color combinations.  

Wool To Wear – Full Workshop Series

The full workshop series option includes attendance at all five Wool to Wear classes and all materials needed for each class. This option also provides a savings of $40 compared to registering for each class individually.

All workshops take place on Wednesday evenings at Gwenyn Hill Farm.

Every Other Week Share Paid in Full

10 weeks of produce, including vegetables, herbs, and flowers, and access to the U-pick garden. If you are a new member, a Gwenyn Hill Farm tote bag is included with your share.

Pickup takes place at the Williams Barn at Gwenyn Hill Farm.

 

Pick-up schedule options are as follows:

  • Tuesdays (A or B Week option): 4pm – 6pm
  • Thursday A Week: 4pm – 6pm
  • Thursday B Week: 5pm – 7 pm

Please choose the day of the week you would like to pick up your share as well as an “A” or “B” Week.

  • “A” Weeks begin June 18 (Tuesday) or 20 (Thursday) and run every other week through October 22 or 24, 2024.
  • “B” Weeks begin June 25 (Tuesday) or 27 (Thursday) and run every other week through October 29 or 31, 2024.
